Description
HIGGINS’ PHOTO-MOUNTER FOR SALE HERE Antique Framed Tin Camera Store Advertising Sign measures 21 1/4” by 15 1/4” by 3/4”. Sign shows age and wear with paint loss, fading, crazing, and some rust spots ( see photos ). I have been tempted to take it out of its frame to find a maker’s mark, expecting to see the name Beach or Meek from Coshocton, Ohio. The detailed lithography of the Cobea vine and the Photo of the young girl holding a BUNCH OF COBEA, as the Photo is titled, is consistent with their beautiful work. I would date this Sign to the early 1900s, certainly later than 1895, as evidenced by the repurposing of a tin sheet used to print the advertising of Talcum Powder on the reverse. This is a very scarce piece of Higgins’ Photo-Mounter Advertising.
