Rare Antique 1800's Brass Golden Gate Concentrator Co Boston Plaque Plate Sign & WPA
I always look for rare and unusual items so be sure to put me on your favorite seller list and keep checking back.
Here is a seldom seen Golden Gate Concentrator Co. Boston plaque, sign or identification plate in excellent condition from the estate of a mechanical engineer that restored and displayed many items. I found very little information on this other than an ad with a picture on a google search under Engineering & Mining Journal dated 1884. It was called a concentrator table for separating gold and silver from clay and common materials. I am sure that this identification plate would have been found on a discarded Golden Gate Concentrator Table possibly in a ghost town in Idaho. The estate that I got this from was close to the Silver City and other old mining ghost towns in that area of Idaho. This brass plaque measures about 4" in diameter. The seldom seen W.P.A. plaque has nothing to do with mining but probably found in the same area and I believe because they were both small the previous owner mounted them both on this wood base. The Works Progress Administration was started in the 1930's to put the unemployed back to work on jobs that would serve the public good. They built many public works projects. I would guess this plaque came from a bridge or school that they built. This plaque measures about 3 1/4" tall x 3" wide. These are mounted on a very nice wood base that measures about 11" tall x 4 7/8" at the widest and 7/8" thick. Please see pictures for more detail.
