    This very rare advertising sign promoting New York City's Grand Union hotel was it fixed to the back of the driver's seat of a hansom cab.
    Dating from the 1870s, is was produced in Paris, France by Juin & Cesbron, as the United States had not gone into porcelain sign production until 1890. Signs like this are extremely difficult to locate in any condition but this specimen cannot be improved upon. It message 2.5" by 4" and is a miniature work of art.
    A similar sign from this hotel and manufacturer sold on eBay in 2007 for ,000.
