The company was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1904.  Germantown is a section in Philadelphia PA.  The club was formed by prominent residents of Germantown in 1901 who needed  a place to store their expensive motor vehicles.  The club house had a large garage that held 48 vehicles, bowling alley, billiards and a veranda dining room.
