Description
SLIDE RULE from the USA (I ONLY found the part in a museum in California) First: The part was sold in the USA (but apparently made in Denmark??) All written parts - i.e. the instructions - are in English. The instructions are from 1959 (by Abraham M. Fuchs); I can not guarantee, whether it is the original manual or a copy. Could be a hard copy of a stencil printer... In any case, NO modern copy! The original description according to the manual is:
" DIRECT READING FREQUENCY RESPONSE SLIDERULE " [ slide rule ] from "BOONSHAFT AND FUCHS INC.", Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, USA
R
arity value: Extremely high! Really very, very rare to get. Even after a long (partly international) search I have no offered or sold copy found. Well, I've had the part in my collection for a few years now... Slide Rule Type: Uncommon uncommon. Attempt at a description: leather folder external dimensions 18,9 x 8,6 inch x 1,2 inch thick. On this easy Signs of wear such as small scratches etc. Nothing dramatic. Zipper smooth running.
The condition of the slide rule is very, very good. Very minor signs of use are recognizable; also the box itself shows some little signs of age.
Inside a duplex rod body made of metal and Plexiglas 13,8 x 4,9 inch x 0,47 inch thick. With 11 slots for the 25 (!!) measuring rods or slide-in strips with different numbers. These measuring sticks are made of plastic and all 25 sticks together point according to a conservative estimate approx. 1500 - 2000 numerical values. These rods can now be pushed into the rod body and moved against each other; held by a compression spring. Each individual stick is 17,3 inch long, so it protrudes in the body of the stick.
There is also a runner, also duplex, i.e. metal/plexiglass, 2,4 inch wide. He's stuck in the leather folder in its own pocket. And then there is the mentioned operating instructions / manual (in English) 16 pages DIN A4, stapled.
A formerly associated internal brush for cleaning the body of the stick is missing. No available anymore, sorry. Otherwise complete. Very good condition with minor but visible signs of wear and age; the part was in use. The leather portfolio is overall in good to (almost) very good condition Zipper, the leather is slightly damaged, without affecting the usability.
The slide itself and the 'sticks' are in very good condition with the slightest signs of wear.
The slide rule is shipped from Germany with Deutsche Post DHL.
