Originally founded in as the Standard Woven Fabric Company in 1911, the Multibestos Company manufactured disc and cone clutch linings, transmission linings for Ford cars and brake blocks and shoes for heavy hoisting machinery. The company's patented product was known as Multibestos, which led to the company changing its name to capitalize on the industry's familiarty with its product.
The company had manufacturing facilities in Walpole, Worcester and Framingham, Massachusetts.
