    Description

    A Thatcher's Calculating Instrument or Slide Rule in Box.
    This is an early one with the Type I brass ends (not cut out).
    Label on underside of lid and stamped into top front side of box is the serial number 675.
    There is an inventory tag on the box of 2 and one on the slide rule of 6. The owners must have had multiple units.
    The slide rule is in remarkably good condition for its age.
    Box is early version with dovetail joints rather than the box joints.
    Box has a repaired split on one end and the usual age and shelf wear but nothing serious.
    I think this is a transitional model between the Model 1740 and 4012 Type I's.
    Sold as-is.
