Keuffel & Esser 4092 Log Log Slide Rule K Scale N4092-5 w/ Leather Case 1925?
This antique K&E 20" Log Log Duplex Slide Rule from from the 4092-3 family is the K scale model of the N4092-5. From what we've learned from several online archives and resources, we believe this particular slide is likely from around 1925. There are several variations of this line of log log slide rules, but some of the factors that would suggest this being from around 1925 include the serial number which is shown to be 146905, the marking of "pat. June 5. '00 Dec. 22. '08", the introduction of the "K scale" on the front side of the stock, and the manner in which the model number is indicated on the stock. You will see that considering its age, this highly collectable tool is in very nice condition. Except for one small chip on the edge towards the end, the celluloid laminated mahogany stock and slide are very clean and free of cracks or crazing. The tracks in which the slide moves are also free of chips, and everything moves like butter. Sadly, there is however a clean break right across the middle of the glass curser, which appears marked as patent pending, indicating this curser might be older than the slide, and replaced the slides original curser. The leather case is also in wonderful condition, though it does have a bit of patina from age. Please review all of these photos closely for details.
