Historic antique vintage Albert Nestler slide ruler, Germany 1905-1906, patent 173660, in wood case
This amazing antique slide ruler made by Albert Nestler is a great historic asset for collectors!

The (pi) π symbol suggests the very first early 20th century date of construction, also the metal screws used.
This specific patent was asked for in 1905, and issued in 1906.
In 1978, the company ended its slide rule factory activity, and in 1994 closed all doors.

Condition: the slide rule is in a nice vintage and good condition, made of mahogany wood, with a cursor/runner which slides along the top surface. It is well-known as a mechanical analog computer before the pocket calculator. It comes in what I think it is its original mahogany wood case.
It measures aprox:
box = length 30 cm / 11.81 inch........ width 6 cm / 2.36 inch
ruler = length 27.7 cm / 11 inch ........ width = 3.8 cm / 1.5 inch

Albert Nestler AG, a German firm located in Lahr, Germany and founded by Albert Nestler. His great grandson, Jürgen Nestler, in Hausach, Germany, is a major contributor to this gallery with many donations of slide rules from when the slide rule factory stopped production in 1978, exactly 100 years after its conception. In 1878 Albert Nestler made his own dividing engine for placing scales on stocks purchased from Dennert & Pape. By 1905 his company manufactured their own stock bodies as well. Prior to WWII, Nestler was shipping slide rules to 60 countries - see Nestler Country Family Tree.
