Description
This Aristo model multi-log slide rule, model 970 was produced in January of 1954 according to the numbers on the casing. The slide rule is housed in a gorgeous, solid curly maple wooden case, highly polished, and free from scratches, cracks, and other imperfections.Inside, the case is lined with dramatic burgundy felt, with the words "ARISTO" stamped in gold lettering in the lid of the casing. Brass hinges hold the top and bottom of the case together,
The case alone would make the centerpiece of any serious slide rule collection. Normally, slide rules are housed in leather cases which are frequently worn and labeled with the owners name.
The slide rule itself is a multi-log rule, made from plastic. The slide works perfectly, and the upper and lower brackets are joined by brushed brass attachments.
The case has cutouts so that the cursor fits neatly into the case without damaging the sensitive sliding cursor.
The German slide rule producer became "Aristo" in 1948, and ceased business in 1978. Aristo was one of the best known producers of slide rules in Europe.
