c1899 PABST BLUE RIBBON BEER CHROMOLITHOGRAPH ADVERTISING SIGN IN ORIGINAL FRAME

Very rare and very beautiful, original, ca1899, Pre-Prohibition, Chromolithograph, Advertising Sign for the “Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer” in its original, advertising frame. This outstanding, Pabst Brewing Company Advertising Sign measures 25 1/2" x 20 3/4" including its original, oak advertising frame.
The sign features a wonderful, "trompe l'oeil" style image of a table top with a plate full of oysters on the half shell, a goblet of beer and two, early style bottles of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer each with the trademark, blue silk ribbon tied around the neck. There is no text on the Sign but there is an engraved, brass label affixed to the bottom stretcher of the frame that reads simply “Pabst Blue Ribbon”.
Although the Sign is not dated we know that in 1892 the Pabst Brewing Company purchasing nearly 1 million feet of silk ribbon, which workers tied by hand around each bottle of Best Select Beer and in 1899 the brand name was officially changed to Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer.
The Chromolithography is of the very highest quality although the Sign is not marked by the lithographer. The scans below do not do justice to the wonderfully rich and warm colors of this very beautiful Advertising Sign.
This rare and very beautiful, Pabst Brewing Company, Chromolithograph Advertising Sign displays in excellent++, original condition - the colors are rich and warm and the framed Sign is exceptionally beautiful. The Sign has never been removed from its original Advertising Frame and retains its original wooden backboard. The Chromolithograph Advertising Sign is clean and crisp and exceptionally well preserved with no damage or repairs of any kind. The original Advertising Frame is also exceptionally well preserved.
