British Thornton Slide Rule Model 281 with case

Description

British-made Thornton  model P281 slide rule with case.     Seven standard scales: K,DF|CF,CI,C|D,A.   In addition there is a 25.5 cm scale at the top and a 10 inch scale on the bottom.   The inch scale is subdivided into 20ths, , not fractionally as most scales.  The large indicator slides smoothly, as does the slide itself.     The rule is in very good condition, with a few light scratches on the indicator face as well as a small chip on its right edge.    See the photos--the pencil is pointing at the chip.
The case is in very good condition.  Its is made of black reinforced vinyl with the THORNTON name printed in gold at the bottom.   It has no writing on it and is solid with operating snap closure.
A nice simple rule from a rarely found manufacturer (at least here in the United States).
