Herbal medicinal product used in adult women in alleviation of menopausal complaints such as hot flushes and profuse sweating.
Composition
One film-coated tablet contains 2.8 mg of dry extract of Cimicifuga racemosa (L.) Nutt., rhizoma (rhizome of Cimicifuga racemosa) (DERnative 5-10:1); extraction solvent: ethanol 58% (V/V). Excipient of known effect: one tablet contains 17.2 mg lactose monohydrate.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Special warnings and precautions for use:
Patients with a history of hepatic impairment should exercise caution when taking Klimadinone. Liver function tests should be performed in these patients. If patients develop signs or symptoms suggestive of liver damage (fatigue, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and eyes or severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting or dark coloured urine), they should discontinue Klimadinone and seek medical advice immediately. If vaginal bleeding or other symptoms occur, contact your doctor. Klimadinone should not be taken concomitantly with estrogens unless advised by your doctor. Patients previously or currently treated for breast cancer or other hormone-dependent cancers should not use Klimadinone without consulting their doctor. If your symptoms worsen while you are taking this medicinal product, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. The medicinal product should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency (Lapp type) or galactose glucose malabsorption syndrome.
Dosage
Adult menopausal women: daily dose: 1 film-coated tablet twice daily (morning and evening). If the symptoms persist during the use of the medicinal product, a doctor or a pharmacist should be consulted. Klimadinone should not be used for more than 6 months without medical advice. No data on dosage in case of renal impairment are available. For oral use. Tablets should be taken with liquid. Tablets should not be chewed or sucked.
Undesirable effects
Unknown frequency: gastro-intestinal symptoms (i.e. dyspeptic disorders, diarrhoea); use of products containing St. John's Wort is associated with liver toxicity (including hepatitis, jaundice, abnormal liver function tests); skin reactions (urticaria, pruritus, rash), facial oedema; peripheral oedema.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Taking Climadinone during pregnancy is not recommended. It is possible to become pregnant while in menopause, so consider using effective contraception during treatment.
There are no data on the excretion of the active substance in breast milk. Climadinone should not be taken during breast-feeding.
