    Description

Up for sale is a very nice "barn find" 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 2Dr Sports Coupe. We purchased this vehicle from an elderly gentleman who no longer drives and this vehicle was in fact parked in a Quonset when we located it.
According to the gentleman the vehicle had been parked for several years and it fired right up when we purchased it and ran great.
I'll break down the description of this vehicle below:
-EXTERIOR: According to the owner the car was painted over 10 years ago, shows very well and has a nice shine on it. There is no rust. The white painted top has no rust but is a tad duller than the exterior of the car. It might just buff up.
Tires are recent and are in great shape. All glass is good, windows roll up and down fine, all lights work as they should, hubcaps are factory original. There is one small 'hook' in the front bumper and this can be seen in the photos. Body lines are nice and straight.
-TRUNK: The trunk is in great shape with no rust. Trunk lid is mint and sports a light that comes on when it is raised. This was installed by the previous owner.
We installed a new trunk mat from Rock Auto. The trunk has a spare tire and jack however the jack may not be original to the car.
    - UNDERCARRIAGE: No rust evident underneath. Frame rails are very nice and all torque boxes are solid with no signs of rust.
There is a recent dual exhaust system with a great sounding pair of mufflers with the exhaust exiting through dual tips below the rear bumper. Shocks are dry. The idler arm bushings will need replacing and if time permits i will attempt to replace them. The car was undercoated underneath at some point in time in its' life and normal dust etc shows on the undercarriage.
-ENGINE: This little 221 2V cubic inch engine runs exceptionally well. Starts right up..goes on fast idle and drops down to normal idle after it warms up. Engine appears original to the car with Casting# C30E-6015-A above the starter and date code of 2M5 which denotes 05Dec62. The previous owner advised that the engine was rebuilt professionally at one point and i can see the warranty pellet style freeze plug above the starter ..this is visible in my photos. The intake manifold has a 26Feb63 date code and the engine still has the original distributor and yellow top coil. It still sports its' original 'road draft tube' and this was pre-pcv valve. The 12v generator appears to be original. The power steering pump was leaking so i overhauled it also with new gaskets, seals etc. and replaced the power steering belt. The carb appears to be original and looks like it has been rebuilt at some point in time.
    - TRANSMISSION:  The 2 speed Ford transmission appears original with casting # C20P-7006-D and a 63 date right below it. The front seal was leaking on the transmission so i removed the transmission and had it professionally rebuilt. While the transmission was out i sanded and painted the driveshaft satin black and replaced both front and rear Universal joints. The battery was recently replaced and looks like new. I replaced the horn relay with a new one. Both front fenders still have the factory Ford date stamping on them.
-INTERIOR: Inside the seats and carpet are in excellent condition with less than normal wear! I removed both and shampooed them to freshen them up. While out i insulated the front and rear footwells with sound deadening material. The floor was solid with the original aqua blue still on it. There are no cracks in the dash and all gauges work as they should. The steering wheel has a couple of cracks as all of these wheels do over time. The drivers arm rest will have to be replaced as it is cracked. Door seals are original and in very good condition with very little wear. Door panels show very well for a 57+ year old vehicle. There is a small hole in the headliner in the left rear sail panel. I have included a photo of same.
-MISCELLANEOUS:  The vehicles serial number 572833 865A 63L is stamped clearly on the inner drivers apron and this matches the vin on the door data plate. The body buck tag affixed to the passenger side rad support also displays this same vehicle vin.
The previous owner replaced the original radiator with a heavier duty aluminum one.
Mileage on the vehicle shows 26,179. I can only assume that it has gone over the 6 digit mark.
I have completed 261 ebay transactions with a 100% positive feedback. My goal here is to describe this vehicle in an honest and correct manner. If you require further clarification on anything please do not hesitate to contact me and i'll respond to your question as soon as possible.
My son and I purchased the car together and i use Ebay regularly. The car is currently registered (titled) in his name. The title, bill of sale and any other documents will be from him to the new owner.
